Why You Don’t Need To Worry About Anything!
Of course, when you’re doing everything you can to keep your child’s smile health on track, it’s natural for some worry to creep in. You worry about your child developing excellent dental care habits, you worry about your child ending up with a cavity and what that could mean, and when your child shows up with a chipped tooth, you worry about that, too! While we certainly never suggest a lax approach to care, we’d love to take some of the stress off by reminding you that worrying is not necessarily your best solution. Instead, keeping up with the essential services provided at our Dallas, TX practice may be what you need.
Don’t Worry About Those Habits
Yes, it’s a good idea to help guide your children toward excellent oral health habits. However, worrying about making sure your kids are masters of smile health at a very early age is not going to do anyone any good! You don’t want your kids to feel nervous about smile care. You don’t want to feel nervous about it either. Remember:
- When you’re consistent and have a positive attitude at home, your kids will pick up on it over time
- It will take your kids some time to become very good at dental hygiene, so giving them time to polish their habits and feel confident is extremely important
- We are here to help you with every single checkup and cleaning! We will offer your children an optimistic outlook compassion, and guidance
Don’t Stress About Cavities
Don’t spend time stressing about cavities. You can only do so much when it comes to trying to prevent tooth decay. As long as your kids are brushing and flossing, you’re using fluoride, and you’re open to fluoride treatment and sealants, you’re doing all that you can. Should a cavity happen, we offer discreet fillings.
Keep Chipper: Chips Are Common And Treatable
If your child chips a tooth, this isn’t a huge problem. Fortunately, this is just a minor bit of tissue missing from your child’s enamel, which is a protective layer. Cosmetically, you may wish to do something about the chip someday (a treatment called bonding that replaces the missing tissue with composite is an easy solution). However, you don’t need to worry about the damage because it’s esthetic and isn’t going to affect your child’s smile health.
