Kids’ Cavities: 3 Things You Should Never Do
We know that you may be getting very good at coming up with surprising parent solutions that you can’t imagine having conjured up before your little ones were born! In some cases, your ingenuity will serve you well. However, when it comes to addressing problems like your kid’s cavity, you’re going to want to steer clear of what seems like a brilliant home remedy or DIY idea and, instead, come straight to our practice.
#1: Never Mistake A Temporary Filling For The Real Deal
Don’t get too excited when you remember seeing temporary filling at your local drugstore. They’re not real fillings. They can lead to serious problems. Forget all about this “remedy” you saw and get going with the real thing by scheduling a visit at our practice!
#2: Don’t Ever Poke Around In There
Before you have your child open his or her mouth and try to check on your own for your kid’s cavity, simply call us. You don’t want to irritate your child’s tooth, you don’t want to scare your child, and it’s very possible that even if you don’t see tooth decay, it’s there. In the meantime, an over-the-counter pain relief medication formulated for children can help.
#3: Don’t Wait
Do your best to put dental care at the top of your priority list for your child. We know that you probably have a list that’s extremely long. However, rather than make it much longer and exhausting, care for a kid’s cavity right away. As a result, you’ll just have “dental filling” to check off of that list. It’s much easier than “root canal treatment and dental crown.”
