Are You Ready For The 2026 Winter Olympics?

dallas winter olympics

The 2026 Winter Olympics are around the corner! The opening ceremonies begin on February 6th and the event lasts through the 22nd. Our whole team is excited to watch! But Your Dallas, TX, pediatric dentist would also like to remind our patients and their families about caring for their smiles this winter too! This could be a season that leads to chapped lips, sensitive teeth and cavities without the right steps.

The Winter Olympics

The Winter Olympics will take place in Italy this year, in Milano Cortina from February 6th through the 22nd, featuring eight different sports! You can see some amazing athletes competing from around the world, all from the comfort of your own home. We have definitely had our fill of the winter weather, but there are still some things to enjoy about this season, including the incredible displays of athleticism happening at the Winter Olympics!

Caring for Your Child’s Smile

Speaking of winter, this season often leads to unique challenges for our young patients. Some children will develop tooth sensitivity due to the chilly winds, and this can happen for adults too. Remember, if a toothache only lasts a few hours, this could be due to the winter chill, but if the pain persists for a day or more, then consider an appointment to make sure your child doesn’t have a cavity! Be sure kids wear lip protection too, as this weather can often lead to chapped lips. Since many kids will be stuck inside on icy days, they may snack more than usual. Try to limit their consumption of items high in sugar and starch, as this could increase the risk of cavities.
