A Chance To Provide Clean Water For Those In Need
We believe that everyone has a chance to make a difference, and help those in need. We do this every day by helping kids obtain better oral health and stronger smiles. But in today’s blog, your Dallas, TX, pediatric dentist wants to talk about an incredible program called Paper for Water!
Paper for Water
The Paper for Water program provides donors with beautiful origami ornaments as a way of saying thank you for their support. The program helps communities around the world who don’t have reliable access to clean drinking water. Providing clean water is often the first step in improving a community’s health and fighting common illnesses. The organization was founded in 2011, after one of the founders learned that every 15 seconds a child died from lack of access to water, and millions of girls were missing educational opportunities because their days were spent hauling water to their towns. The mission started small, with the founders creating ornaments themselves to encourage donations. Now, it has grown to reach over 20 countries.
You Can Help You Too!
You can join us in supporting this amazing program too! You can donate $10 a month and help fund a new well in a town in need, helping thousands of people around the world. With your donation comes a thank you piece of origami, which will be mailed to you within two weeks. If you would like to create a larger order, you can email them directly at [email protected].
Schedule a Visit Soon
Speaking of hygiene and wellness, you should also remember to schedule a visit for your child every six months to see us! A routine checkup and cleaning is the first step to keeping teeth and gums strong and healthy, and ensuring bright smiles for years to come. With the exam, we monitor the smile over time, and identify areas of concern early, treating problems before your little one experiences discomfort in many cases. The cleaning portion allows us to remove harmful plaque and tartar from the teeth, a process that leaves them bright and also fights tooth decay and gingivitis. We have a comprehensive array of treatment options to help children, from fluoride and dental sealants to fight tooth decay, to fillings and crowns to treat cavities and damaged teeth.
