3 Things To Never Feel Guilty About

If you’re a parent, then you have already experienced all sorts of “parent guilt” about this and that. Your other parent friends can completely relate. You hear a lot about how you shouldn’t be so hard on yourself because you’re doing the best that you can! However, you may still find that the sting of guilt gets you even in times when you try to convince yourself it shouldn’t! Today, our Dallas, TX pediatric dental team would like to at least help you just a little bit if you’re experiencing any guilt associated with protecting your children’s oral health. Consider a few times you should never let guilt enter the picture!

#1: Insisting That Your Kids Brush And Floss

We would like for you to remember that though sometimes your kids may act like you’re punishing them by insisting they brush and floss their smiles, you should never ever feel guilty about the act itself! If you are letting them fall asleep in the evening and then waking them up because you suddenly remember that they didn’t brush, well … this is something you should change! Or, if your children insist it is uncomfortable, then you should bring them in to find out why. However, requiring them to hop on board with oral health care in general is absolutely essential. If you give into resistance to dental hygiene, your kids will suffer the consequences, such as tooth decay. Set up some structure, plan out hygiene sessions, and all is on track!

#2: Sticking With The Basic Hygiene Products

Don’t ever feel guilty about sticking with a manual toothbrush and some regular old dental floss and fluoridated paste. While electric toothbrushes, fun-flavored floss with interesting texture, and more can seem exciting, it’s not necessary. What’s necessary is brushing and flossing to protect your children’s oral health. Checking out new items and technology is all about preference!

#3: Asking Us For Help

We hope that you will never ever feel guilty about asking us for help. You may wonder why your child’s smile is uncomfortable. You may not know if you’re doing things correctly. You could have any manner of questions or needs! Just remember that when it has to do with the oral health of your child, we are always here!
