Were you hoping to make some fun, albeit last-minute plans for your family this weekend? If so, have you considered a departure from the usual Halloween-themed activities that dominate this time of year, in order to check out the 2016 Trinity River Wind Festival, an exciting display of kites and other wind-worthy attractions that will be in Dallas beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 29, 2016? This annual event is sure to be a hit with the whole family, so make plans now to head out to witness the flights of fancy, so to speak, that will be featured throughout the day!

Don’t Miss This High-flying Event

Organizers suggest you secure your hair or hat, if you’ll be attending this year’s event. Basically, you don’t want to block your view of the sky over the Trinity River during the event, which will last from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, because there will be a variety of wind-loving features.

It is being called a celebration of “the free energy of the wind with a free festival focused on flying fun.” Ask the kids to say that five times fast; just be sure to take them out to this awesome display and day of family-friendly fall fun.

This is the fifth annual event, which is being sponsored by both the City of Dallas and the Trinity Commons Foundation. In addition to several incredible show kite teams that will be present, there will also be public kite flying, a stage show from the Backland Prairie Raptor Center, and pigeons from the Trinity River Audubon Center. There will also be crafts for kids, dance performances, street artists, a rock climbing wall, award-winning Frisbee dogs, and much more.

The event is free to the public, and officially takes place at 146 W. Commerce Street.
