Celebrate National Children’s Dental Health Month with Your Kids
You may already be planning to show your kids how much you care, this Valentine’s Day, by giving them special gifts or even throwing a small party. But February isn’t just about celebrating Cupid’s arrival. It is also National Children’s Dental Health Month, an opportunity the American Dental Association hopes parents will take to teach their kids about the importance of regular dental hygiene and care. After all, few things are as important as your kids’ beautiful smiles. Make sure they’re well-cared for, and educate your children how to maintain healthy smiles throughout their lives.

But there are also ample resources available online, which can help you better educate your kids about dental care. From songs and videos about toothbrushing, to a variety of books and other materials, it has never been easier to make learning about oral care fun for the whole family.
- The ADA’s website is filled with helpful materials, including general guidelines for when you should take your baby for his or her first dental visit, and how often children should go for checkups and cleanings.
- The National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research has also provided some illustrated booklets, which address a wide range of dental issues facing children, such as cavities and even gum disease. Consider printing a few out to review with your kids at bedtime during this special month.
