Time For Christmas Shoeboxes
The holiday season is here and it’s a time for giving! Which is why our team is working with SoupMobile to provide shoeboxes of goodies for homeless people in our community. This is also a time to schedule a visit to be help kids enjoy good oral health. In today’s blog, your Dallas, TX, pediatric dentist talks about volunteering for a good cause.
SoupMobile
SoupMobile is a local Dallas charity that is non-profit and helps shelter and feed the homeless in our community. Each year for the holidays, they gather shoeboxes and fill them with essentials to hand out to the homeless and those in need during the Christmas season. You can find out more about their program right here. They hand these out on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. We’re proud to lend a hand to help this program, and you can too!
How You can Help
Each year since 2017, our office and our families help make shoeboxes for this program! You can help. You can make your own and our team will pick them up and then deliver them with the ones we’ve made in our office. If you bring them by today, I can deliver them to SoupMobile tomorrow morning.
If you want to take part, the process is simple. Take an empty shoebox and wrap the lid and box portion separately. When you fill it, tie it together with a ribbon. Items you can include:
- Winter necessities, such as scarfs, tube socks, hats, gloves, plastic ponchos, and small umbrellas
- Toiletries like toothbrushes and toothpaste, disposable razors, travel tissues, lip balm, hand sanitizer, brushes, and combs.
- $5 McDonalds gift card
- Pens, pencils, flashlights, notebooks, candy and gum, paperback books or Bibles, and granola bars
If your items are for women only, add an “F” to the top of the box in marker. You can also include a handwritten and signed note too!
Make Time for a Winter Checkup
Nowe is also a good time to bring your child in for a checkup and cleaning, so you can start the holidays with healthier smiles and use any remaining dental insurance benefits or health savings funds before they expire at the end of the year. We can treat cavities, and offer preventive treatments like fluoride and dental sealants to help fight cavities and keep little smiles strong and healthy. If you have any questions about SoupMobile or children’s dentistry, then please reach out to our team today.
