5 Virtual Events For Your Family To Attend
Whether you’re trying to find something education for your homeschooled children, or if you just need something to occupy them besides the same Netflix series over and over again, virtual events can be super beneficial! State Fair of Texas Curriculum
While the actual State Fair of Texas may be canceled for 2020, that doesn’t mean the fair isn’t still here to help Texans! The State Fair of Texas is offering educational course online for students in the state of Texas. You can find new curriculums that are TEKS-aligned and focus on STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) for kids in grades 4 through 12. These programs will be available now through October 25th. They even have a course on Texas civil rights hero Juanita Craft!
The Fight for Civil Rights
You and your family can learn all about the struggle for equality in Texas and throughout the south with the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum’s online exhibit “The Fight for Civil Rights in the South.” The entire exhibit is available to view online, and includes incredible photographs and accounts of the Freedom Riders and more. The exhibit is available to see virtually through January 14th. If you want to ever visit the museum in-person, it is located at 300 North Houston Street.
Women’s Suffrage in Texas
Did you know that 2020 is the 100th anniversary of women gaining the right to vote in the United States? The Hall of State in Fair Park on 3939 Grand Avenue has a special exhibit on the 19th Amendment and the Women’s Suffrage Movement that you can also view virtually! The online exhibit even includes a special lecture from Melissa Pricer of the Dallas Heritage Village, which talks about the Suffrage movement in Dallas. You can view this online from now through September 1st.
A History of Dallas Hospitals
Enjoy a special virtual exhibit hosted by Rose-Mary Rumbley on the history of Dallas Hospitals, from the 19th century to today! The exhibit is hosted by The Hall of State in Fair Park, located at 3939 Grand Avenue. You and your family can view this from now until August 31st.
