Smile Care: Remind Your Kids To Ask Questions

How many questions do your children ask you every day? A lot? How many questions do they ask you about their oral health and smile care? If they aren’t usually very vocal about their smiles with you (or they become a bit shy with us during dental checkups), we advise you to encourage them to ask their questions. It’s a good habit to form, so they are always confident about caring for their teeth and gums and asking for help when they need it!

Remind Them To Ask You Questions

Remind your kids to come to you to ask questions if they are unsure about their smile care. Whether they notice a change with their oral health, they aren’t sure if they’re doing something correctly, or they are simply curious, it can be very beneficial for them to come to you! As a result, you can easily offer education or schedule a visit if it’s necessary.

Remind Them To Ask Us Questions

Remind your kiddos that they don’t need to be shy! It’s perfectly acceptable (and encouraged) for them to ask us oral health questions. This paves the way for future comfort in the dental practice setting!

Remind Them To Write Things Down

Particularly for your older kids, such as your teens, it’s often a good idea to remind them to write their questions and thoughts down. Between everything happening in your family’s schedule on a daily basis (and kids’ occasional tendency to forget things), it can be hard to keep track of those details your son or daughter is curious about. Ask your kids to make a note (possibly in their phones). Then, they can review their notes and remind you that they had a question, want a dental visit, etc.
