Of course, we know that you are already all over the particulars of child safety. You think through every last detail and you may even be surprised by your capacity for prevention that sprung up once you became a parent! However, we also know that the holidays can make just about anyone feel frazzled. As a result, we like to bring up some suggestions for our parents, just in case we chime in with something a mom or dad has overlooked! Remember, the more information you have, the easier it is to avoid dental emergencies. (However, if you need our help, we are here to offer urgent treatment!).
#1: Mouth Burns
Whether you’re the one making the hot cocoa or if your kids suddenly mention they want to make their own, remember to remain on high alert when hot liquids are part of the equation. Keep in mind that only kids you feel are old enough to make their own hot drinks should be permitted, so you can avoid accidental dental emergencies. For little ones, it’s always best to wait for cocoa to cool or to add ice cubes (or whipped cream) to cool the beverage down before handing it over. A burned tongue is never fun.
#2: Trauma To Teeth, Etc.
Where are you planning on spending the holidays? If you have plans to head somewhere that’s colder that our snow-free climate we have going on in our neighborhood, then remember how difficult it can be to walk on and navigate snow and ice. Remain mindful for your sake and your children’s and step very carefully to avoid dental emergencies!
