Checklist For Healthy Teeth And Gums

Keeping your child’s teeth and gums healthy is your top priority and ours as well. However, you may find that along the way, you begin wondering if there’s some sort of special combination of factors that best protects your child’s oral health. The good news is that there actually is a pretty straightforward three-step process to remember. As long as you do your best to assist your child in maintaining a smile as free of plaque as you can get it, you can expect great results.

#1: Brush Those Teeth

First up for excellent oral health is daily brushing. Keep the number “2” in mind and this will help you remember the best way to approach brushing. Your child should be brushing his or her teeth two times a day. Each of those brushing sessions should last approximately two minutes to ensure your child brushes every single tooth surface reachable. And remember to provide your child with an age-appropriate, soft-bristle toothbrush.

#2: Floss, Too

Next up is flossing. If you’re unsure about how to show your child the best way to floss, we invite you to speak with us during your next visit. We will be happy to assist your child through every step for comfortable, effective flossing. This is something that should occur once a day to remove plaque that is easily left behind even by the best brushing.

#3: Visit Us For Preventive Care

Your brushing and flossing efforts may not yield the excellent oral health you want for your child if you forget to schedule six-month visits. That’s right, you only need to bring your little one in twice a year for checkups and cleanings, which will increase the effectiveness of your home care.
