Kids and Dental Visits: Making It Easier

We can’t promise that all children will think going to the dentist is as fun as going to the swimming pool or the zoo. Just keep in mind that our children’s dental office in Dallas, TX has many amenities with our young patients (and their parents) in mind. Your Little One’s First Visits

We’d like to see your baby around the time a first tooth erupts. This introductory visit will give us a chance to meet your new addition.  Twice-yearly checkups and cleanings can begin by about age three, where we will explain to your child what we are doing and the equipment we will be using, all in gentle, child-friendly terms. 

Be A Role Model

Your child will look to you when forming an attitude about dental visits. If you are reluctant to visit your family dentist,  your child may sense that a dental office is not a good place to be. While you don’t have to dance with joy when appointments roll around, we suggest you speak of dental appointments positively. They are crucial to maintaining good oral health and a smile your child can bring with them into adulthood.

Protect Young Teeth From Injury

Children lead adventurous lives! You can help prevent tooth and mouth injury by:

  • Making sure your child is not biting or chewing on non-food items
  • When your child begins to play contact sports, make sure they wear a mouthguard.
  • Encourage children to sit or stand still when drinking from a metal or glass water bottle.
  • Children should not run or roughhouse while eating, or with treats like lollipops in their mouths
