Each Friday we like to highlight fun events happening in our community! Since many people are social distancing to protect their families from COVID-19, we want to offer some events you and your family can participate in virtually, often without leaving the couch. From a reading series to a walking event in your community, there is plenty for our Dallas, TX, families to enjoy. We’re also following strict health and safety precautions in our office, so you can bring your child in for routine checkups and cleanings as needed.
You and your family can take part in Empowerment and Inclusion Through Story Time today from 9:30am through 10:30am. This story time program is aimed at children in Pre-K and Kindergarten, and will feature a reading of What Does It Mean to Be Kind? By Rana DiOrio. Space is limited, so you will need to register one ticket per device used. This weekly event will be featuring stories about inclusion and diversity, so if you miss this week’s you can also check it out again next week!
The Dallas Heart Walk
You and your family can join in The Dallas Heart Walk on Saturday, September 12th starting at 9:30am. The event supports the American Heart Association, and is raising funds for researching and training for those hospitalized by COVID-19, since over 40% have heart disease or are stroke survivors. Just take a walk in your own neighborhood, and share pictures on social media with the hashtag #dallasheartwalk. A great way to get a little exercise and support a great cause, all while social distancing!
The Big Texas Read
Take part in an awesome, state-wide reading series program with The Big Texas Read! Launched by Writing Workshop Dallas and Gemini Ink, each week there will be different events online celebrating great Texas authors, such as Kathleen Kent, David Samuel Levinson, and Joe R. Lansdale.
