Yes, when cold and flu season arrives, your carefree feeling that comes with summer quickly flies out the window. Suddenly, kids are back in school, their friends begin rubbing their noses, you prepare to unearth sweaters and jackets from the depths of closets, and then you hear it: The first murmurs about flu shots, washing hands, etc., in an effort to prevent the spread of colder weather illnesses. Prevention Reminders

As you know, our dental care team is all about prevention. As much as we love helping you keep your child’s smile healthy, we also love assisting in keeping your child in good physical health, too! We’d like to offer a friendly reminder that prevention is key during cold and flu season. • Don’t let kids share toothbrushes or dental hygiene products (this makes it too easy to share germs)
• Don’t share your own brush with your spouse or kids for the same reason
• Have everyone wash their hands before dental hygiene sessions to avoid ingesting germs carried on fingertips
• Give everyone their own toothbrush holder or cup, so there’s no transfer of germs from brush to brush
