You may have scheduled and attended dental appointments for yourself many, many times in your life, none of which managed to cause you any sort of anxiety. However, you may also find that as you’re scheduling your child’s preventive dental visits, you’re suddenly feeling somewhat (or very) nervous, you’re full of questions, and you feel shockingly concerned about nearly everything! First, our Dallas, TX team reminds you to rest easy: This is a very normal reaction. As for the questions you have and the reassurance you need, we’re happy to help. Consider some initial FAQs and bring all other questions in with you to your child’s visit (which will, we assure you, be a wonderful experience!).
Will It Be Comfortable?
Yes! We know that just about every time you think about dental care, your priority is making sure your child is comfortable. We are happy to remind you that whether you’re bringing your little one in for a preventive dental visit, a filling, or anything else, we prioritize comfort and feeling secure and relaxed. Our goal is for your child to feel good about dental care, not bad about it, because our shared goal is for your child to have a healthy smile! We offer a relaxed atmosphere, give your child time to feel at ease, and ensure checkups and cleanings are extremely gentle.
Are The X-Rays Safe For My Child?
They are! We know that you may be thinking about traditional X-rays and that you may worry about radiation. Fortunately, today’s modern X-rays are digital (and possibly more comfortable than what you received when you were a kid, thanks to super-comfortable sensors) and they release a greatly reduced emission of radiation (when compared with conventional imaging).
Is My Child Old Enough Yet?
Most likely! We see children as soon as they are one year of age or their first tooth has erupted. If either or both of those are true, feel free to contact us to set up your child’s first dental visit!
What If My Child Is Nervous?
We encourage you to remember that we are a very empathetic team! We know your child may feel a little uneasy on the way in to our practice. However, remember that after experiencing the ease of care that comes with visiting a pediatric dental practice that sees kids every single day, a dental visit will seem like a walk in the park!
