Here comes spring! It means so many things, especially when you have children. The weather is easier to handle, you stop dealing with kids accidentally losing their coats and gloves, our landscape looks much more beautiful, and … of course … spring sports begin! Is your child planning on participating? If so, we have some suggestions that will offer significant protection for your children’s smile health.
#1: Get Your Mouthguard Now!
Trust us, we’re not implying that your kid cannot get through a sports game like soccer, baseball, or otherwise without doing something clumsy. Most of the time, injuries and facial trauma are absolute accidents. Kids can fall, other kids can throw balls or swing bats when teammates aren’t looking, and the list continues. The easy way to keep your kids’ smile health safe is to have them wear an athletic mouthguard. Pick one up (or talk with us about your options) soon!
#2: Pure Water Works Wonders
If your child is participating in some sort of hardcore working out and athletic practice, then replenishing electrolytes in a serious way may be something to consider (and sports drinks may become beneficial)! However, when your children are primarily outdoors playing or are participating in team sports, plain old water is generally the best thing to hand over when you’re keeping hydration levels up. Don’t overlook that sports drinks are often full of food coloring (which can stain) and are very acidic (which may damage teeth). Don’t want to take the sports drink away from your kiddos because everyone on the team loves them? Follow it up with water, then, to rinse teeth clean, so smile health remains safeguarded.
